N3S Toasha

The approximate extent of the Toasha desert

One of the largest deserts in the world, the Toasha occupies a vast band of land south of the Kothai and north of the Dulama highlands. Surrounded on three sides by mountains, the southern part of the Toasha slowly transforms into a savanna-like climate before finally reaching the jungles of the River Yensai. A number of oases have been discovered in the central part of the desert -- sufficient to allow cross-desert caravans; indeed, the Toasha became almost an artery of trade with the rise of contacts between east and west. Recent wars have devastated the cities and oasii of the Toasha, with trade shifting northward through Kerch or south along the Yensai.
