Opul'annai is a tiny independent city-state on the shores of the Airendhe, the only country other than the Empire of Trahana to exist on the coast of that sea. Rumored to have been founded by exiles from the far east, Opul'annai has grown little since it earliest days, and its economy is primarily based on the production of lumber to supply the vast Trahana merchant fleets. Although it could never defend itself against a concerted effort at annexation by the Trahana, Opul'annai has in the past been guaranteed its independence by the Trahana against possible attack by the Vithanama Empire, and its small size and inability to militarily resist larger powers alone has perhaps been its greatest protection.
