A fast-paced handball game originating on Spitos, now played across the Republic of the Daharai and throughout southern Athis. The sport is usually played between two teams of six. The object of the game is to throw a small ball - usually of wood padded in layers of cotton, linen and leather - through a square goal roughly two feet by two feet placed at chest height at each end of the court. An oene court may simply be a flat and cleared rectangular area, though a well-equipped facility will generally floor its court in varnished wood. Common rules that are generally agreed upon include:

1. Players may only take four steps with the ball before having to pass to a teammate or attempt a goal.

2. Blocking of the ball and others players is allowed, as is initiating a tackle on the ball-carrier.

3. Fighting is strictly dissallowed.

Oene is a rough game, and requires strength, speed, agility and fortitude. Players are not uncommonly injured, and deaths are not unheard of. Games of oene between skilled teams tend to feature prominently on the social calendar in cities in which it is played, and such games routinely host large crowds of spectators. Victories are almost always celebrated in a raucous fashion, with a plenitude of wine and spirits.
