Katdhi is a city built around an oasis near the center of the basin that forms the Tashal desert. It is the only reliable source of water in the desert, and the only fixed settlement of any kind. Long ago the Katdhi tribes made the oasis their capital, and though they are long gone their name lives on in the city. In the thousand years since its founding Katdhi has been sacked on numerous occasions, and for long periods has been an uninhabited ruin. The people always return eventually, though, drawn by the irresistible tug of the oasis and its water.
