The Church State or Grandpatriarchy is the home of the Grandpatriarch, the leader of the Iralliamite faith, and the center of the church hierarchy. Built around the sacred city of Opios, housing the tomb of the Prophet Kleo, it was founded after the fall of the Holy Moti Empire, as the Grandpatriarch Etraxes declared that the instability merited the establishment of an independent Church State to safeguard the faith from the increasingly troublesome Independent Conclaves, as well as the overbearing influence of the Kothari Exatai. Since its founding, it has come into conflict with the Kothari on more than one occasion, especially after the conversion of the latter to Conclavism, but still wields an enormous amount of spiritual and temporal power.
